Field Mission 7: The Queen of Hearts, Part 1
![]()
![]() ![]() The day is met the way all others begin: the sun rises from the eastern stretch of land facing the sea, as the citizens of Emberwharf awaken to a fish market brimming with life and splendor. The same sun is seen in Ok'talar, where its warchief watches, as is tradition for its leader to be meditating under the warmth of its warm embrace. The clans of the Highlands pick up where they left off just yesterday, squabbling over minor infractions of land, marriage, or deals that have fell through. And in the cold clutches of Orrenvia to the north, people are bundling up and preparing to visit the mines at the base of the Spine of the World. The general news throughout the Kingdom of Fanelia is that today is a day of celebration. It marks the 110th anniversary of the coronation of its ruler, the Queen of Hearts. While some people around the outskirts of the citadel proper consider this as a day of mourning, many are called forth to partake in festivities, dining, and the accompaniment of the finest musicians from the far-reaching town of Peppelfen. For the last 110 years, the Queen has kept order and, somehow, relative peace throughout the kingdom she rules. Although open defiance and protest is met with swift justice and sentencing, no one can overlook how crafty and careful she is. Her manipulations resonate throughout the annals of the history of Fanelia, present in every major brokered deal throughout its vast land mass and diverse population. Her benevolent guidance is felt by all... as is her tyranny. She is a monarch of paradoxes: obsessed with control, but only acting for the betterment of the realm's self-preservation. Every passionate declaration of "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" had been necessary up to this point; who else can steer and guide this world into prosperity than she herself? The horizon in the far off distance swirls with its usual tumultuous temper. A dark cloud surrounds the continent where Fanelia is located, known to all as "The Expanse." Every year, the border closes a little bit more inward, narrowing the lands and threatening the civilizations that reside on the fringes. Its presence encroaches, and with it, a general looming sense of fear that one day only the capital city will be left standing, protected by a magical bubble of pure radiant light that allows only those permitted by decree to enter. But none of you can remember your life before this illusion took hold. As far as you're concerned, you've been here your entire life. You don't notice that this farce, this world created by the usage of a Grand Relic, has only existed for a year. One whole year has passed since magic was cut loose from Faerun's fabric, and no one is any wiser that it's been gone at all. You look down to your wrist, noticing the same three clouded, empty colored crystals that have always been there since the day you were born. Each one bears the shape of a heart, and it makes sense to you why Lucretia is known as... 1. THE COURT OF HEARTS![]() A. ANOTHER MORNING, HOWEVER YOU SLICE IT Good morning! Where are you right now? Another day is creeping over the horizon, and your life as you know it is continuing down the path it always has. Wherever you are. However you're feeling. The crystals on your wrist, though you've managed to sort out at least one purpose for them by now, remain as dull and lifeless as they've always been. Maybe you've long since figured out that not everyone has them — and maybe today is the morning that you finally heed a call to figure out why. The harder you think about it, the more questions you seem to have. It's a wide world out there, and there are people you just might be dying to remember. Where will you go? Who will you run into? B. NETWORK Speaking of that one purpose you've stumbled upon: A series of messages that, if you choose to access them, dance across your mind as if they were your own thoughts. Over the years, the messages have ranged from confused — people on the other end wondering what this is, without really finding any answers — to just straight up sales pitches. One day, though, a message under the name of Avalon appears: Wandering fortune teller and adviser offering services. [ooc: If you'd like a randomized way for a memory to begin unraveling, feel free to hit up the RNG thread for a fortune! Note: A low roll doesn't necessarily mean a failure to nudge your character in the right direction, it will just dictate how cryptic and/or troll-y the fortune actually is. Or, feel free to come up with an unrelated fortune for a prompt.] C. AROUND THE CAPITAL One way or another, you may make your way to the capital city, the seat of the Court of Hearts. Whether you're here for answers, or whether you're here just to see the sights, here are a few ideas to get you started.
![]() D. EXPANDED WILDCARD As we mentioned in the OOC post, we highly encourage worldbuilding and creating your own scenarios to recover your character's lost memories! Outside of the capital city, the entire setting is yours to alter, and play in, as you see fit. Want to haunt the Enchanted Forest, or hunt wild boars? Want to follow your character's fairy tale story and have them work their way to leader of a clan, or of a settlement in Kingstown? Go for it! This is your story to write. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up on the OOC post. blurb code by photosynthesis |

[Rule #50 - A Hero's job is never finished.
There's always a village to save or a D.I.D. to rescue and well, Roxas isn't exactly off duty in these situations. He's just glad he can spot them from the air thanks to Pegasus. With a flash, he lands, sword out, shield ready, and charge to block some monster from making a meal out of some kids. Attack blocked, he grins at the kids with a confident swagger.]
Get to safety, I got these guys.
[He shoves the monster back with his shield, and to the monster's surprise it goes back a bit further than it expected. He glances around for anyone else who might be fighting back.]
Hey, you need a hand!?
[Capital; Where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me]
[It's the first time he's ever been to the Capital.
Roxas has been in cities before but not any as big as this one, and so it's kind of hard to not keep looking up and around in awe. He probably looks a little silly, truth be told. And he knows he stands out.
Not just because of the winged horse that walks beside him, Roxas knows he's gaining a reputation. He can hear people mentioning his name on the streets. Mostly just "is that him?" or "That's Hercules!". No "That's Phil's boy" yet, but hopefully he'll get there. He wants to get there. He said he'd go the distance.
Eventually Roxas makes his way to a tavern. Might as well get comfortable if he's here for a few days at least. He's got to make it in the big leagues now.
He sits down at a table and glances at the crystals on his arm. Is it worth reaching out to the voices he sometimes hears?]
Alright, where to first.
[Dating Game; Person of the week in every Greek Opinion poll]
[He's not entirely sure why he signed up for this. He's mostly been busy with Hero training to even really go on a date. But he's here and it's happening, and at the very least he'll get his name out there.
He's a bit awkward when his name is called though, losing that heroic composure to try to casually lean on some of the set dressing. But he doesn't know his own strength sometimes, and ends up knocking it over.]
Didn't...didn't mean to do that. Sorry, sorry.
let me help!
[He turns to his would-be partner.]
Sorry. Just be a minute!
[Wildcard; Zero to Hero, just like that]

Uh... [Church would be squinting at the piece of paper in front of him if he could.] These questions seem really...insensitive? Personal? Even I don't know how I'd answer some of these.
[He considers the list of Embarrassing Questions, looks around at the other Friendelia participants, and then...crumples it up and tosses it over his shoulder.]
So I'll ask my own questions! Where are you from? What do you do? How'd you get here? What's your favorite color? Do you like long walks on the beach? Have you ever been to a beach? Can you take me to a beach for an insignificant fee?
Why is the sky blue?
ii. noone would stop you, you're free to choose your own way
[Church has been in this city for entirely too long, he feels. But it's hard for someone like him to make it out there all on his own. His morning starts as usual--making a spectacle of himself on some street corner with a bag to toss coin into, and a sign on the side that says PEPPELFEN OR BUST.
He does the Robot. He does some self-slapstick. He breakdances in a way that only someone made of metal can (loudly, not as agile, very clangy, kind of impressive actually). He pulls himself around like a puppet sans strings. It's what he was brought here to do, and even though it's humiliating, he knows people will pay. Better the money go to him than the guy that dragged him here.]
Tip your waitstaff, folks, I'll be here all week.
[There's more he can do, though. Look at him. He's a metal man. He can do menial labor. Give him some work. Or maybe you happen to know of an angry fella looking for an escaped blue warforged and he's coming this way. Maybe, spare a pint of grease for a poor guy's joints? Offer him a ride to the islands?
Or laugh at the stupid stupid spectacle man, whatever, maybe it doesn't have feelings to hurt, or something.]
iii. don't be afraid of the choice you make, it's alright
Shh, Delta, I know what I'm doing.
[I'm so sorry for your croquet partner. Because it's Church, and he's talking to a cricket. And no. He does not, in fact, know what he's doing. If you're watching carefully, it seems like maybe his arms have grown a little? But surely that's a trick of the light.]
FORE!
[jesus christ So instead of anything reasonable, Church winds himself up and whallops his ball into next week, aiming to send it careening over the seemingly bottomless pit. So it, of course, careens into the seemingly bottomless pit.]
Huh. Didn't think that was physically possible. Why does the queen like suck a hard game so much? And...why are we playing it? Shouldn't she come down and play it?
iv. questions remain, they will linger on like memories (closed to Wash)
[Getting into the queen's castle was the surprisingly easy part. He kinda figured getting in to talk to her would be just...stupid hard? But no, here he is, wandering.
And wandering. Aimlessly, really. Where...do these strange geometries even go?
A cricket chirps in a quiet, echoing hallway.]
I'm not lost. [That sure doesn't keep his arms from gaining a little length.] SHHHHhhhhhhhhut up. Okay. So I have no idea where I am. [And back to normal they go.] Don't get smart with me. Smarter with me. Hello? I'll even take a guard at this point, so long as someone's around to point me in the right direction!

Alice in Wonderland
[Should you find yourself wondering around Kingstown you might come across a young girl sitting next to a flowing fountain with a book in her hands. She seems to be flickering through the pages quite quickly with the book resting on her apron on her lap. She finally stops on the last page and starts to read from the back forwards... A little backward, isn’t that?]
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
[Curious. Just what is she reading out loud? It's almost sing-song. If you continue to listen she might continue without noticing you at all.]
Beware the Jabberwock, my son.
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch.
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch…
[And when she finishes reading this line she seems to look up. Startled, she lets out a small breath and rests a hand on the page.]
Please, tell me you’ve heard of the Jabberwocky?
[B; it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig.]
[Upon wandering through the Enchanted Forest Yuri finds herself picking several wildflowers and creating simple comfortable crowns for her head. She has two there now and she’s carefully making a third. This one seems to be made up of glowing purple flowers.
Even further into the woods, Yuri can be found picking mushrooms as well. Red ones, orange ones, pink ones too. She’s carefully collecting them in a satchel at her side.]
I’ve heard that mushrooms carry magical properties. Care to try one with me?
[Eating magical mushrooms shouldn’t be so bad, right? A little tingle in your stomach, a flutter of your eyes... Perhaps you’ll fall fast asleep or grow twice as big. Maybe you’ll see colours or want to fly or maybe you’ll even turn into a small butterfly. Maybe you'll fall in love or want to hate or simply want to cry. You'll only find out when you try a mushroom!]
[C; it's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.]
[Within the Court of Hearts Yuri can sometimes be found sneaking the halls carefully, avoiding all guards and making her way through the castle with a dagger on her hip. She sneaks into the gardens and finds any white roses she can find so that she can...
Paint them red?
She’s compelled to do it, sneaking in as often as she can to sabotage the roses with red paint. And because of that Yuri seems to have knowledge of how to sneak in and out of the gardens without being detected. Or is she just that lucky and sneaky? Here is hoping she doesn’t lose her head one of these days...
Help her paint roses red or get in trouble with her or get lost in the insanity of the castle, either way-- it’s bound to be mad.]
[D; curiouser and curiouser!]
[got something else? feel free to toss it down here! or contact me at

Jack and the Beanstalk
[The countrysides of Fanelia are a beautiful sight to behold. Green grass, rolling hills, clear blue skies... and a giant beanstalk?]
[Hayner thought his mother would rake him across the coals when she found out he'd traded their cow for a bag of beans. Magic beans, he had tried to explain, but she'd already tossed them out the window. He'd gone to bed, dejected and upset... only to have woken up to a massive beanstalk growing in their garden the next day, the top of which stretched up into the clouds.]
[Hayner currently stands under the massive crop, staring up at it in wonder. He gawks for a few seconds, before he cries out in delight.]
I knew they were magic!! Aw man, wonder what would happen if I climbed it...
A-2 - ...Others are Slain
[Perhaps you hadn't been there to see Hayner's spirited climb up the massive beanstalk that now grew from his mother's garden, but just happen to be passing underneath it. As you do, however, you'll hear a rather panicked yell from above.]
INCOMING!!
[Looking up, you'll see Hayner scrambling down the stalk as fast as he can, a bundle in his hand as he does. And if you watch long enough, you'll see a massive foot following shortly after. Then another, followed by legs, and a torso.]
[Yep, that's right. An honest-to-goodness giant is chasing him down that same beanstalk. What will you do? Help? Run in terror?]
B - It's a Lovely Day in the Village
[One would think that having a goose that lays golden eggs would be an amazing discovery. And those golden eggs have certainly helped Hayner and his mother pay off any outstanding debts they may have had or purchase some finer clothes and other such things. However, they couldn't just declare themselves nobles just yet; they still had to wait for the goose to lay the golden eggs in the first place.]
[That would have been all fine for Hayner, had that been the only issue with owning such a creature. However, he hadn't counted on it being such a menace.]
[The goose wasn't a mean animal; it didn't hiss, nor did it flap up and attack people. But it seemed to like getting into mischief. Stealing people's keys, dropping gardening tools along the banks of the river, managing to unlock the latch of any gate it came across and making a general mess of wherever it got into. More often than not, Hayner had to track down the offending bird and apologize profusely to whoever had been unlucky enough to have been on the receiving end of the bird's antics.]
[Perhaps you're here, dealing with this unexpected annoyance in your life. Or, perhaps you see Hayner scooping up the bird and apologizing to whoever's day the goose had ruined.]
Sorry about your flower garden. I have no idea how he got out... Look, I can give you a golden egg, if that'll help smooth things over?

the little mermaid
[This game makes absolutely no sense, but frankly Sayori is quite enjoying how absurd it is. The first few wickets of the game are pretty uneventful, but she laughs with delight as she sees the first strange obstacle over which they're meant to navigate the ball: a very deep pit with no bottom in sight.] Ooh! I know what to do!
[Does she??? She definitely doesn't know the rules at this point, but she does what makes most sense!
She points her finger with an awkward flourish of her wrist and levitates her opponent's ball across the gap. As she does the same with her own ball, she turns to them and grins brightly with her sharp teeth, clearly waiting for their approval.]
♥ 2 - up where they run; friendship game! ♥
[Oh, she does so enjoy making friends! And she even recognizes some of the people here! So she signs up for the game without hesitation, though without disclosing anything pertaining to her unusual background in the survey.
She claps a little and shifts on her toes as she's partnered up with someone, leaning in maybe a little too close to regard them with open excitement and curiosity.
Is that a frog on her head? It certainly is.] Hello! Are you good at things like this?
[What is "this?" Whatever event they've been assigned, of course! Pick/RNG a task or tell me to do so in your tag!]
♥ 3 - up where they stay all day in the sun; poetry! ♥
[Sayori can be found in and around the capital city, of course, but she makes her way to various other locales too, excited to be travelling on her own for the first time. She can be found in pretty much any town, usually in taverns or other venues where entertainment is provided.
And she's performing poetry. Her performances are aided with gestures and flourishes that produce small illusions; the sound of waves, the smell of the ocean, her fingers drawing trails of light that dance as if on disturbed water and colorful fish hovering in the air around her.
Her repertoire of poems is varied, though the rhyme and meter are fairly consistent, and the themes of sunlight, storms, and the ocean are recurring if occasionally more abstracted. Sometimes she foregoes the illusions and performs entire poems while floating in the air, the movements of her limbs much more graceful than on the ground as they shift like she's treading water.]
♥ 4 - wish I could be part of that world; wildcard! ♥
[Check out her AU details here and feel free to contact me at
The main things to note: she's very curious and so can be found in all kinds of weird places investigating stuff; sometimes her legs get fatigued so she sits to rest or levitates so she doesn't have to walk; she is sometimes not very subtly searching for information about a Sea Witch and transformation magic; and she can be found anywhere there's literature, reading and writing and wondering if Queen Monika might like this or that.]
no subject
[After a fateful trip to the Enchanted Forest, an encounter that's more sweet but still a little bitter, Sayori is feeling in higher spirits. And she has a lot of swimming to do.
By pretty much any body of water that isn't just a fountain, you might find a travel backpack and a pile of discarded clothes, folded but not very neatly. Truffle the frog sits atop them, guarding(???) them. Venture too close to the water and—well, you're in the splash zone.
And you may very well get splashed as a mermaid dolphin jumps out of the water and spins in the air, giggling as she plays. It's tough to get a look at in that quick glimpse, but she does appear to be wearing most of her assorted jewelry.
Whether or not you've been splashed, she doesn't notice you until peeking her head out of the water again.] Oh! [And she swims towards you, grinning and not looking terribly apologetic.] Sorry! I didn't see you there!

No, I haven't.
[But it's very difficult for him to resist the siren call of someone who might need assistance. Jack gives her a careful look up and down, as if looking for any signs of hidden weapons.]
Who is he?

puss in boots
[While it's true that Spike (in Boots) carries no allegiance to any particular kingdom and no particular queen, he sure does love to be out and about among the citizens. Here in the Court of Hearts it's no different, and among the many human-sized people wandering around town, one may be able to spot a little curly-furred black cat walking like a human.
He mostly keeps to himself, often taking the time to just sit, perhaps on a bench or a barrel or in a tree, as the citizens go about their days around him, snoozing away as life goes on. He hangs around street vendors, all too appreciative when they offer him scraps (though often he'll refuse for a scratch instead).
Most of the time, the cat just watches the world around him, not interacting. Every once in a while, though, he's given reason to catch someone's attention.]
Hey. You don't happen to have a light on you, right?
[He might ask a passerby that looks promising, a grubby looking cigarette(?) in his mouth clasped between those sharp little teeth.]
How Fortunyate?
[Another moment has Spike puzzling as he sits on someone's windowsill, tail and boots all dangling as he sits like a little person.]
What the hell is this supposed to mean...?
[Spike takes this kind of psychic thing at least somewhat seriously, so upon receiving a fortune he's had to give it at least a little thought.
Well, at least until he lets the thing go, letting the paper fly on the breeze. It does that, of course, straight into the face of another reclaimer passing by.]
...Woops. Sorry about that.
Nyatters of the Heart
[Suffice to say Spike isn't really interested in a dating game, but the people working it couldn't help but get excited over finding a cat with crystals down its wrist. That's the only reason Spike finds himself in front of another reclaimer, sighing as he's shoved forward.]
Look, I'm not really here for this kind of thing, and uh, I've got paws. I don't see this cooking thing really happening.
[So maybe choose another event; slaying a monster with a cat? Taking a long walk around the city with a cat? Or perhaps a small maze? Pick and choose, friend or not; you're still being forced to play Furry for a while.]
Nyagative Space
name: swimmingbird
They say cats have nine lives. How many times do you think you have to die for it to be over?
When I close my eyes, I see the stars like I can reach out and touch them. When I open my eyes, they remain. But if I reach out to them, they're gone.
Are you living in the real world?

[Spike has travelled around everywhere, especially at the side of Mista the huntsman. He can be found pretty much everywhere, especially sneaky places! All wildcards are acceptable-- or contact me at

The Cheshire Cat
A; Croquet
[This is not how anybody plays croquet. This is not only because of the nonsensical rules and dangerous playing field but because the only part of this Sans is taking seriously is to deliberately break as many rules as possible.
That's probably why two of the croquet balls currently (theoretically) in use are just hovering uselessly in the air above one of the chasms.
Well, not entirely uselessly. Sans is standing on them. Maybe you want one of those back. Maybe you have noticed Sans casually knocking other balls into said chasm from his perch and would rather there not be one more obstacle on this course. Was Sans even the person you were supposed to be facing off against?]
B; A Place You Call...
[Sans wanders around the castle all the time. That's not new--he gets a lot of entertainment out of harassing the guards and the queen and everybody in between. This room, though, is new. Is not new. Is painful and impossible and he doesn't understand why. It would be enough to set all the fur on his tail on end if said tail wasn't fake.
It's a living room, though there's a dining table immediately to the right of the door, and a rock covered in rainbow sprinkles on top of that. Beyond that is a fading doorway. There's a television, there's a very well-lived-in couch, there's a sock on the floor and a pile of sticky notes. There's a staircase, but it doesn't seem like it quite manages to go anywhere.
He becomes aware of someone else there all at once, and he whips around defensively for reasons he doesn't understand. Almost, but...?]
It's against the rules to wander around in here without permission, y'know.
C; Dating Show
[Did Sans even fill out a survey or did he just appear in the middle of the proceedings? At any rate, he's here, and he's watching his theoretical partner look at the monster they've been told to slay, and, well--]
You know, I don't really feel like slaying monsters.
[This is not going to stop the monster.]
D; Wildcard
[Sans can be found in many places, favoring the capital and the enchanted forest but totally able and willing to pop up anywhere. If you have something in mind, let me know! I can be contacted at

Mulan
[There are soldiers from Khura'in in the Court of Hearts lately.
Unbeknownst to the public, and even to most of the soldiers themselves, they're occupying the city as a false sense of peace and allyship, unknowingly awaiting a signal to attack from the inside. But even without knowing this, the soldiers occupying the city pose a problem for Mia.
To the soldiers, Mia is Micah Neumann, a soldier known for his bravery, unique skills, and quick thinking. His extraordinary problemsolving- and of course, his Indomitable Might- would have made him an invaluable member... if her own troop hadn't figure out the truth about her. She was left with her issued armor, personal belongings, and weapons, abandoned, as her squad left without a word; Mia had saved their lives, and in sparing her without telling the entire army, they'd saved hers. It's been a few weeks since then, however, and rumors have started getting around.
Micah needs to walk the streets of the city with care, not raising suspicion in other soldiers in why she's shown up without her troop, all while guiding a strange girl in a red dress to the kingdom of Uta.
...Except, she can't find that girl. In all the excitement, Mia's gotten separated from her. So if someone with their wrist crystals visible passes, they might find a Khura'inese soldier hurrying up to them.]
Excuse me! I'm so sorry to bother you.
[Micah says, in a forced deeper voice.]
I'm looking for a teenage girl, about this tall? She's got long dark hair, wearing a red dress- and she has these crystals on her wrist, just like you and I.
Bet the local girls thought you were quite the charmer (Friendato)
[Okay, it feels a little disingenuous to Mia to enter a friend-making contest while still under the guise of Micah. But she's noticed that pretty much everyone participating has those same crystals on their wrists, and she's been aching to know what they're for, her curiosity still unsatisfied.
Her curiosity still doesn't outweigh this anxious feeling she's got, though; any of Micah's partners will find themselves faced against a rather meek looking soldier who won't make eye contact, almost constantly covering 'his' face with part of 'his' hand. For some reason, he seems to smell of the ocean whenever someone is near enough to smell that sort of thing.]
Alright, well, what are we up against?
[Micah says, taking the opportunity to look toward the note with the activity they've been assigned to. Whether it's cooking or slaying monsters, she's up for it (at your choice) and will do her best to assist her partner... aaand learn more about them and hopefully their crystals, in the process.]

closed to ruby | there goes the baker with his tray like always
First, however, she has to make a couple of her usual stops. As she rounds the corner to approach the bakery, she nearly stumbles over a young girl in a bright red hood— she doesn't recognize the cloak, but she does spot the three heart-shaped crystals on the other girl's wrist, just like the ones on her own. Considering that not everyone has them, it seems strange that she should almost run into someone else who does.]
I'm sorry— that was a near miss. I don't think I've seen you here before?
The Evil Queen
Audience with your Queen
[ Once upon a time, there was a beautiful queendom by the name of Uta ruled by a beautiful queen. By her law, artists and the like are hailed as heroes for helping to provide such a wonderful place to live. Though none deserve praise so much as their queen who made it all possible. But she isn’t the superior queen… is she? That title goes to the Queen of Hearts in the neighboring kingdom. And it drives the Evil Queen mad. She’s good at keeping it to herself, but some of her closest court members may have caught her sour musings about the red queen. The Evil Queen even wears long gloves to cover the hearts on her wrist as they remind her too much of her enemy.
Enough of that, though. The Evil Queen isn’t so obsessed that she doesn’t have time for her own queendom. On this day, there’s open court in the Queendom of Uta if you wish to speak to Her Majesty. She sits on a high throne as members of her court watch in hush as the common folk and even political allies and enemies come to speak to her. Keep in mind of the guards that also stand nearby...
While looking down on you, a smile spreads on the Queen’s face. There’s just something slightly off about it though. ]
And what brings you to my court today?
Unfortunate Fortune
[ Her Majesty may have traveled to the neighboring kingdom with a political agenda… but that doesn’t mean she can’t have a little fun. And ooo a mysterious fortune teller? That does sound fascinating, doesn’t it? However, it doesn’t end up being the fun she had hoped for. After receiving her fortune, the Evil Queen storms out of the tent. Her guards try to quickly follow after her, but she tells them they are dismissed and should leave her alone. They look very conflicted in the order, but before they get the chance to really decide what to do, their queen is gone.
The Evil Queen can be found hiding in the gardens if you go looking. It would be easy to write off her display as her temper getting the better of her. However, looking carefully at her here… she does not seem okay.
She stares with wide eyes at her hands as they shake. She even pulls her gloves off, sweat visibly dripping down her skin. One of the hearts embedded into her wrist seems to have a faint glow to it. ]
What… is this feeling?
The Wrong Fairytale
[ Rumors of a “magic room” in the Queen of Hearts’s palace most definitely catches the Evil Queen’s interest. How could she not be curious about such a supposedly magical thing? When there’s a quiet, she manages to sneak away from the court and her guards to explore the palace on her own. It’s rare for her to do something so naughty… but she has to see it for herself. If something the Queen of Hearts has, she wants it too. After almost getting completely lost in the palace, she manages to find the fabled room. The Evil Queen opens the door eagerly but is almost overwhelmed instantly. A warmth washes over her as she quietly steps into a kotatsu filled room. It’s been covered in blankets and pillows for some reason, but she doesn’t question that.
Rather she questions why this room is even here. This is not her queendom… yet it makes her feel a familiar warmth. Without thinking, she kicks her shoes off and walks in to sit at one of the tables. Nearby there’s a tv screen playing static, yet every once and awhile an almost too on point song cuts in and out. It makes her head hurt even more.
She’s wide eyed as she hears the door open again, but the blanket of the kotasu almost keeps in her place. ]
I… [ Her expression hardens a little. ] You shouldn’t be here.

[ "Nonsense!" the showrunners tell her as they usher her on over to a station. "You're siblings, aren't you? Let's show some of that love! Surely it'll be easy for you two to work together!"
Mira almost wants to say that she's not sure; they used to be close, yeah, but the past few years... well. They've hardly said a word to each other, apart from cordial greetings and the discussion about traveling here. But she also doesn't want to ruin anyone's fun, so she kind of stumbles her way over to stand next to her brother. She shifts, putting what she hopes is an okay distance between them. ]
... I guess this is happening! [ She laughs, a little nervously, and she glances sideways at him. ] Is-- this okay?
For Crowley
[He can, however, take a break, and that's what he's doing right now. That break has taken the form of yet another pile of books: it seems now he's trying to find information on the heart crystals embedded in his wrist. He's had very little luck so far, if the pile of books meant to go back on the shelf is any indication; for now, he has one book open to a diagram of different crystals and has placed his arm wrist-up next to it on the table, looking for similarities.]
[Two of the three hearts glow a warm red.]
no subject
However, his mood since the Wintersend Gala has been less Lurking and more Obsessed.
He sets a glass slipper down onto the study table near Wash, and then turns to try and find a book... Only to find an empty space where it should be. He turns, one hand akimbo on his hip and the other running through his long hair, pulling the loose braid over his shoulder, as he glances around.
And sees the book he's looking for in a stack next to the man he'd ignored just a second ago.]
Uh... Hi. Mind if I borrow one of these?
[He touches the book he's talking about, not taking it yet but indicating which one he wants.]
