The answer is mentally turned, inspected, trying to intuit the next step in a burr puzzle. There's probably a metaphor about glaring at a late-game Jenga tower here, but the narrative is on a burr puzzle kick lately. Deal with it. Backtracking a move to free open a piece is a valid tactic in those. ]
