The path will take them down to the full interior of the mountain, and it suddenly becomes clear why the exterior of the mountain is so unstable. It's actually hollowed out — literally strung together with what looks like entire miles of the same exact rope they've been following this entire time. The ropes cross in all directions, up to the peak and all the way down to the base.

It looks like there's another cavern straight across the way — provided they can figure out a safe path across the ropes.
