[ Maya actually does earn a visible stare at the faltering - obvious on its own, but the mental slip-up makes it twice as obvious. There's a moment of hesitation, always giving her privacy with her thoughts (know how much it bothers her), but the line between the two of them is blatantly crossed. It's a tangled knot of regrets and apologies, reminders that it's okay to be sad, Better here. We have second chances. A suffocating hug and a shoulder to cry into all at once.

Downside. From this close, it's all guilt and unsurprise at her call-out. Acceptance. Always happens the same way. He doesn't even need the 'as usual'. I know he was/frustration/It's hard. It's like the cats. Sometimes I can deal with them. Other times not. Can be fine up until the words disappear/can't help it/he doesn't deserve that kind of stress anyway.

The narrative would like to point out anyone with two brain cells to hit together can tell that's some level of PTSD, but alas. The angel is an idiot and this note is only so thread stalkers can bury their face in their hands and groan. ]
