And shoot, that's a lot of them. ]
Yo! If you ain't fought these fucks before, watch yer back! They able to kinda teleport to get behind you an' attack you like that!
[ Axe already in hand, Beat swings it hard and skims the wing of a passing vulture, grinning as it squawks in anger and flaps desperately to get away. Take that, you jerk, he hopes it's one of the ones that attacked Hinata. ]
no subject
Try to stay close to me, don't get separated!
[They hate cats. She grits her teeth as she draws her weapon, shifting it into its scythe configuration and wrapping the ribbon around her wrist to anchor it before taking aim and throwing it towards the vulture that Beat had just managed to clip, hooking onto one of its wings and causing it to let out a high shriek as its flight is cut short. It's still airborne, but close enough that Beat or another one of their party members can take a swing at it if they want to!]

Booyah! Take that, bitch!
[ Wrenching his axe free, he moves to get in closer towards Blake, taking up position at her back, just in case. ]
Sweet weapon! Think you can reel in a few more? Maybe they'll fuck off if they realize we ain't goin'd own widdout a fight.

[Pulling airborne creatures out of the sky has the potential to make this encounter a lot easier for them, although she's concerned by the sounds of more wings beating overhead. How many of these are there, anyway?
She huffs softly. They'll worry about one at a time, for now. The most important thing is keeping them from getting to Qrow and the others who are facing the Kipine. She yanks Gambol Shroud loose from the vulture whose wing she'd clipped, and it leaves a trail of blood behind it on the snow. Grimm don't bleed— that part is taking some getting used to.]
Cover my back, I'll see if I can get another!

[ Keeping an eye out, he poses himself behind her carefully, watching the vultures circle around them. It's difficult to keep track of all of them; they mingle and blur together as they cross in front of each other, and sometimes disappear to reappear somewhere else. Twisting his axe in his hands, he watches one break off from the rest and wheel towards the main group. ]
Roomie! To the right! Er, no shit, MY right, yer left!
[ As long as they can keep this group of vultures occupied, it should give the main group a chance to take the big bird down. Unable to spar a glance their way, he can nonetheless hear the fighting, and hopes their efforts help somewhat. ]

She switches her focus to the vulture that's now careening towards the main assault force, and she prepares to hook it the same way she had the first one. The scythe at the end of her tether sails cleanly through the air, catching against the vulture's wing, but before she can reel it back, the vulture itself pulls free and turns sharply, preparing to dive towards the two of them.
Crap.]
Damn it! Quick, move to cover!
[They might be able to make it to those nearby trees if they're lucky, but that vulture is coming in hot.]
no subject
Like an idiot, he firsts twists around to see why.
It gives the group of vultures that were hanging back the signal they were waiting for and now there's not just one, but several diving at them. Beat usually doesn't fear, but after what happened with Hinata and the serious injuries he sustained there, the pure ice running down his spine at the sight is enough to get him moving. ]
Move!!
[ There's no graceful way to push someone, so sorry as Beat gives Blake a shove towards cover, immediately scrambling after her to make for the denser foliage. ]
no subject
She grimaces, rubbing her head as she rights herself, her weapon still held firmly in one hand, leaves and twigs and snow having made their home in her hair.]
Thanks— I think. It's probably going to come back, we should keep moving, get further in for better cover! How are the others holding up?
[She looks out towards their main force, locked in battle with the Kipine, and feels her breath catch— she can't see them as well as she would like, but even from this distance, it looks like things are getting pretty rough out there.]
no subject
[ The situation might be getting dire but he almost laughs at the sight of her hair. The sound the vultures make get his attention instead and he watches as they wheel in the air, calling to each other. She's right, they're going to come after them again if they hang around too close, they look mad. ]
Shit... I don' wanna move too far though, what if they need our help?
[ It looks like things are getting bad and Beat hates the idea of running. He tightens his hold on his ax just as a vulture suddenly dives towards them, shadow stepping at the last moment before hitting the trees... to make it in to them to attack with a loud shriek. ]
no subject
Even as the vulture sweeps in to strike, lost to the shadows only to reappear before them, Blake slides in front of Beat to shield him with her body. He may be the barbarian, but she has some tricks of her own.]
Get back!
[She turns sharply on her heel, throwing her arms around Beat's shoulders to try and tackle him to the ground— and in her wake, she leaves a facsimile of herself, a second Blake that vanishes as the vulture crashes into it.]
no subject
That's enough to convince Beat they need to move it. ]
Aight yo, new plan, we scoot further back an' come 'round at a different angle.
[ Carefully sitting them both up, running a hand through his hair to try and get his own sticks and pine needles out of it, he peeks out to the fight. The main group is looking rough but those that are staying at a distance seem to be all right... ]
It looks like we have time if we make it quick.
no subject
[And certainly better than doing nothing. Blake picks herself up off the ground as well, the both of them looking a little worse for wear this time around— but at least neither of them is seriously injured. She casts an urgent glance out towards their main force.]
Things are looking brutal out there. Maybe we should call for a retreat—
[But Qrow is with them, an experienced Huntsman. She should trust him to know and read the situation, shouldn't she?]
no subject
Shit, aight. I ain't likin' the idea but we gonna get our asses kicked if we play 'round any longer. Ain't sure they'll hear us here though.
[ Moving further into the brush, Beat begins to make his way around to try and get closer to the main group, keeping an eye on the vultures as he does. It seems they're on the lookout for them, as well. ]
TEAM RANGED DPS

"Now's our chance. Lay into that thing with whatever you got." He's new to this whole Ranger thing, but the first thing he does is place Hunter's Mark on the kipine just in case it gets away from them. Seems the way to start this fight.
TEAM HEALBOT
MAIN RAID

So despite the terrible odds and the fact that this thing is actually pretty scary as fuck, Yata is one of the first to throw himself into the fight against it. Red Aura wrapped around his limbs and enhancing his speed and strength, he also calls upon some of the new Barbarian skills he's been learning. Adding his rage to his Aura means his fire-fueled blows hit even harder and he leaps into the fray, long axe swinging and aiming for whatever blows he can land on the large creature. ]

Yata and Akechi are competent, and he trusts that they'll do well. He has seen both of them fight. So he gives a certain space, managing dodges and blocks and trusting them to do their job. But more than once, seeing the monster get a little too close for comfort, Qrow dances in close for some quick, irritating slashes of his strike before drawing back to give Akechi and Yata more space.]
This way, bird brain!
[He waves his hand and its two very shiny rings to help encourage its motion away from the kids. With luck, it will leave them both openings to strike.]
