[He wrestles just enough control back to change the target of the spell. The white-gold of his Ray of Frost doesn't streak towards Maya—it explodes at his feet, encasing his lower half in a decent coating of ice, along with some of his hands. It might not be enough to stop him for good, but it's going to slow him down. If he gets frostbite, he'll deserve it.]
