Other members of the Bureau are responsible for finding where these magic things are, and then we all get sent in to try to figure out how we're going to get them away from whoever's using them. Apparently if the Director destroys these really powerful items, it'll stop the Hunger from... well, destroying everything.

Honestly, she doesn't really understand how destroying a bunch of magic items is supposed to help restore everything to the way it should be in the first place!
