[Shinjiro doesn't find that particularly weird, considering his own living situation (or lack thereof, specifically) for the last two years. He also isn't especially interested in the books, though he does lazily flip through a few pages of the nearest book, out of a lack of anything else to do.]

His more personal memories -- like the orphanage, or the SEES dorm ... he's not so sure he'd be willing to invite anyone into them. He opens his mouth to say something and it hangs there for a brief moment before he closes it and looks down at the book, instead. Another few moments later:]

[He's still struggling a bit with all this, but in here, he feels a little less suffocated by the guilt he was made to face in the initiation test, and the weight of what needs to be accomplished at the Bureau. He wonders if this kid had realized, and that's why he offered, but Shinjiro knows he'll never ask.
