The butterfly stops in mid-flight and crash lands towards the carpet, dead, before disintegrating into speckles of soft, shimmering light. Which is kind of weird. You've seen most casters having to use verbal or somatic components to cast magic. Casariel just willfully exerts her aura of magic forward and is capable of one-shotting your 1HP familiar. She must be an incredibly strong archmage to accomplish that.
